St. Thomas the Apostle is a special place. Born during the exhilarating and sometimes feverish Space Race, nurtured by a booming Clear Lake area community through 30 years of ministry, and now exploring a seemingly infinite variety of ministries and possibilities, we are a faith community that is not afraid to ask questions! We work hard to ensure that this Church is a listening place, rather than simply a telling place. Preparing for the new civilization being born, we also look to the best of the past in our continuing journey to become what GOD dreams us to be, individually and as a faith community. We are a congregation focused on the future, while integrating the wisdom of the past.
We are part of a Christian world-wide community called the Anglican Communion, which has a Catholic heritage and a Protestant emphasis upon individual response. At St. Thomas the Apostle, we follow our patron saint's desire to know, to see, and to learn. Poor old St. Thomas has earned the title "Doubting Thomas", but that's a bum rap. Thomas wished to see no more than what the other apostles had seen. Thomas, among the twelve closest followers of Jesus, was a master student - always wishing to know more, never afraid to ask questions, or point to what he did not understand. He was more interested in living with the questions, than guarding the right answer.
If you are interested in a faith community exploring the riches of GOD's creation, without submitting to a cookie-cutter approach to enlarging your own soul, St. Thomas the Apostle welcomes you!
